Our commitment to safety and well-being
Every young person at Compass Learning is known, supported, and closely supervised within a calm, structured environment. We ensure that safeguarding, well-being, and positive relationships are always our top priority. We understand the trust placed in us by parents, carers, and referring organisations, and we are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of safety.
Compass Learning is led by an experienced former Vice Principal with extensive knowledge of safeguarding practice, procedures and statutory responsibilities. Having held senior leadership roles in highly disadvantaged schools, as our DSL, she brings substantial experience of managing safeguarding concerns, working with external agencies, supporting vulnerable young people and ensuring that the right action is taken promptly when concerns arise.
We work closely with schools, families, local authority services and other professionals to ensure that learners receive coordinated support. Where a safeguarding concern arises, we follow clear reporting and escalation procedures, sharing information appropriately and seeking advice or making referrals where needed.
For learners placed by a school or local authority, we maintain regular communication regarding attendance, wellbeing, progress and any emerging concerns.
Safeguarding Compliance & Safer Recruitment
Compass Learning works in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and is committed to upholding the Department for Education’s Voluntary National Standards for Non-School Alternative Provision. Our policies, safer recruitment processes, staff training, safeguarding systems and quality-assurance arrangements are designed to ensure that every learner receives a safe, well-managed and high-quality education placement, with clear accountability and effective partnership working with families, schools and external agencies.
Safety and well-being are central to everything we do at Compass Learning. Learners are supported by trusted adults in a calm, structured environment with clear routines, close supervision, and strong positive relationships. We follow robust safeguarding, attendance, and welfare-check procedures; complete risk assessments for activities, visits, and individual needs; maintain secure site access; and ensure staff are suitably vetted, trained, and clear about how to respond to any concern. Every learner is known as an individual, so support can be tailored quickly when they need it.

Reporting a concern
If you have a concern about safety, please tell us straight away. You can contact Compass Learning & Education by email at info@compass-learning.co.uk or speak directly to a member of staff, who will ensure your concern is passed to the Designated Safeguarding Lead without delay.
We take every concern seriously and will respond in line with our safeguarding procedures. If a child or young person is in immediate danger, contact the police on 999.
